Junior Varsity
(13-15)

Junior Varsity is the second stage, where athletes discover the importance of developing neuro-muscular patterns. Athletic fundamentals begin to be developed and directed toward sport specific skill application. This program focuses on improving and stabilizing athletic movement while ingraining fundamental skills of speed, agility, and power. This is accomplished by adding massive repetition to create a permanent and positive athletic change in the athlete.
Our weight lifting program was designed by USAW Coaches, Craig Belanger and Kevin Brower. This program will benefit athletes in both strength and power. First, it introduces proper mechanics in each lift. Once an athlete has proper mechanics, we are able to increase power production which leads to maximum efficiency. Second, as athletes increase in height, weight, strength and aggressiveness, the need for improved joint integrity is vital for reducing the chance of injury.
Our Junior Varsity program is designed for athletes 13 to 15 years old. New athletes will be enrolled in age appropriate programs. Once an athlete demonstrates increased proficiency in movement, strength, and maturity, the ESP staff will determine if the athlete should be training at a higher level.
